The York Cat Trail is a free self-guided walk that takes you across the city in search of over 30 cat sculptures hidden along streets, riversides and historic buildings. Some are perched boldly in plain sight; others are tucked into corners and doorways, waiting for a keen eye to spot them. Each sculpture has its own story and connection to York's history and artistic heritage, making the trail as much about discovery and local knowledge as it is about the cats themselves.

A downloadable PDF map is available free of charge from the York Lucky Cats website, or a printed copy can be requested by post for a small postage fee. The trail is suitable for all ages and works particularly well as a family activity - the combination of fresh air, a bit of friendly competition and plenty to look at makes for an engaging half-day or full-day out. It also offers a wonderfully different way to see familiar parts of the city and stumble upon corners that might otherwise be missed.

The York Lucky Cat Shop on Coney Street is the home of the trail and stocks handcrafted cat ornaments, gifts and trail merchandise.
