Tucked into the countryside on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, Helmsley Open Air Swimming Pool is a genuine rarity - Yorkshire's only 25 metre heated open air pool. Run as a charity, it's known for its relaxed, holiday-style atmosphere, with swimmers enjoying open sky above the water and grassy hills and sheep in the backdrop.

The pool welcomes families, regular swimmers and visiting groups alike, with friendly lifeguards on poolside, changing rooms and toilets inside, and outdoor showers. Drinks and ice lollies are available to buy on site, making it an easy spot to settle in for an afternoon rather than just a quick dip.

Beyond general swimming sessions, the pool also hosts events throughout the year, including triathlons and aqualthons, and is available for private hire in one or two hour slots.
