Step through an unassuming archway off Goodramgate and you'll find Bedern Hall, a medieval guildhall with a story stretching from priests to pork pies. Visitors can see the rare scissor beamed roof, one of only two surviving examples of this early timber structure in the city, and learn about the Vicars Choral of York Minster who once lived and worked here, as well as the guilds who later used the hall.

Families can follow the Stanley the Squirrel activity trail around the hall then relax with coffee and cake in the courtyard café and garden terrace. Throughout the year the hall also hosts themed events for all ages, including monthly lunches, wine evenings, flower and craft workshops, and child-friendly Halloween activities.

Bedern Hall also welcomes group visits and can arrange walking tours of the city, from guildhalls to ghost stories, making it a flexible stop for families, history lovers, and visiting groups alike.
